VE Day commemorations - Thursday 8th May

The Parish Council's VE Day commemoration event in the Parish Hall was hugely popular yesterday and attended by over 53 local residents. Catering refreshments were provided by Linda's Bakehouse and attendees were treated to a range of wartime songs performed by our Singer Victoria May. A wartime quiz was also formed part of proceedings and a variety of raffle prizes were on offer. The Day ended at dusk with the lighting of the Lantern of light Peace at the Whiston sign above the Memorial bench on the corner of High Street/Turner Lane opposite the Brookside pharmacy. Our thanks again to all those who participated in the days proceedings.
